John served two years in the Army and after his honorable discharge became a Chicago police officer. He left the department after 12 years to become an FBI agent and retired after 21 years of service. He presently works as a freelance writer and award-winning author in a variety of genres, including novels, short stories and poetry. He has published more than 150 articles relating to police officer training, street survival, and fitness (click here to read them). John also writes book reviews for the New York Journal of Books and video scripts for a non-profit organization, The William McLain Foundation located in Atlanta. He is a member of the National Book Critics Circle, Public Safety Writers Association and The Virginia Writers Club. He and his wife of 46 years, Christine, have three beautiful children and five precious grandchildren.
